MY 1989 JEEP YJ RESTORATION JOURNEY

TASK FOUR - SEATS

This is why my wife insisted on new/different seats...

But truth be known they were rotted from underneath so there was nothing left to attach them to the Jeep.  Not sure how they were able to sit there without falling over here...must be the beetle dung.

I had read countless post about how Cavalier seats bolt directly in place of Jeep Seats and as chance would have it I knew someone that was stripping down a '89 Cavalier.  As luck would have it I was given these seats free of charge...FREEBEE as they say on TV...But being the living embodiment of perfect balance in the world the other part of my luck kicked in and apparently 1989 isn't one of the bazillion years that are a direct bolt up so more work is involved.

So begins our mission...

Armed with my trusty Sidekicks Sandpaper &  Rustoleum boy we took on the evil forces of Rust and decay.  The Risers were spared but after eliminating the rust on the Slider we were left with...AIR.  At least for the passenger side...but hey the passenger doesn't need to reach the floor so our solution...attach the seat directly to the Riser.

Nice shot of the newly lined tub with the Riser set in place.

Here is what the seats look like sitting in place...not complete yet as the back two bolts are not in yet, need to do more work to fab up an adapter.  Notice how the passenger seat sits a touch lower than the drives seat.  That's because only one slider was salvageable and I'm too cheap to pay for another one right now.
