MY 1989 JEEP YJ RESTORATION JOURNEY

BEFORE

Some of us have a favorite memory of that certain vehicle that we drove when we were in school.  For me that was the 1989 JEEP Wrangler YJ that I had when I was in college.  Like most I had all the great ideas both large and small of how great it would be if I had just a little more money to put in it.  But sadly like most college kids I was broke.  Now twelve years later with a goal of dumping my debt before my son is born I have gotten rid of my Explorer and with a very modest budget I plan on fixing up a 1989 JEEP YJ.  But I did more than just find a similar model...I found the exact vehicle I once drove.  The problem...First, I live in Florida and it was in Louisiana.  Second, it hadn't moved in nearly 7 years.  My little brother, being the one who broke it had been hanging on to it.  I know what you are thinking but it IS POSSIBLE to break a JEEP, but don't worry JEEP believers my brother is no ordinary man...he is the super man of breaking vehicles.

My brother didn't have a garage so he parked it in the back of his yard under a tree.  And there she sat exposed to the weather, the bugs, and of course the tree for so many years, until my younger brother brought her to me in July.

This is where the journey begins...
